The Open Technical Lectures (O.T.L.) initiative commenced on January 2005 and it belongs to a series of lectures which are organized by the Digital Systems and Media Computing Laboratory, which operates under the School of Sciences and Technology of the Hellenic Open University. The lectures are organized in collaboration with IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Greek section and IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers) Hellas Branch.

The main purpose of these lectures is to put audience in touch with the latest scientific developments, to put emphasis on the creation, application and implications of new technologies. The O.T.L. focuses on trends in Engineering, Science and Technology and generally tries to cover the latest technological developments.

The most important factor is that everyone has the opportunity to participate in these lectures. Not only IEEE and IEE members or university students are enabled to attend O.T.L. but everyone who is willing to expand his/her horizons and be informed about new ICT technologies.

O.T.L. takes place every month and the participants are provided with the opportunity of attending these lectures via the Web, while they are situated in different places in Greece or worldwide.
